Additionally, in alignment with national goals to curb carbon emissions, France introduced a ban in May 2023 on short-haul domestic flights where train journeys of up to 150 minutes provide a viable alternative. This policy affects routes such as Paris to Nantes, Lyon, and Bordeaux, although it exempts connecting flights.
