AirExplore’s Strategic Expansion into the US Market
AirExplore, a leading European wet-lease specialist and part of the Avia Solutions Group (ASG), has recently received regulatory approval from the US Department of Transportation (DoT). This milestone allows AirExplore to operate commercial flights both to and from the United States, as well as within its borders. The approval signifies a significant expansion for AirExplore, granting it the ability to conduct scheduled and charter flights that transport passengers, mail, and cargo. All operations must utilize aircraft wet-leased from operators certified under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 129, adhering to the rigorous standards of the FAA International Aviation Safety Assessment Program (IASA).
Following its acquisition by ASG in 2023, AirExplore reapplied for the Part 129 license, leading to the recent approval for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit (FACP). This permit will elevate AirExplore to full air carrier status once Slovakia, where AirExplore is registered, achieves IASA certification. Subsequently, the FAA will process the Part 129 Operations Specification specifically for AirExplore.
Benefits and Future Plans
The CEO of AirExplore, Martin Stulajter, has expressed enthusiasm about this development, highlighting the advantages of being supported by ASG, a global leader in aviation services. This expansion is aligned with ASG’s strategic vision to enhance its global presence and provide versatile aviation solutions to an industry experiencing rapid growth. Since its inception in 2010, AirExplore has grown rapidly to become Slovakia’s largest ACMI carrier. The acquisition by ASG in June 2023 has further positioned AirExplore for an ambitious expansion, particularly into lucrative markets like the United States.
ASG’s CEO Jonas Janukenas has remarked on the dynamic business environment in Slovakia and the strategic advantage of holding an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) in the region. This move not only facilitates geographic and operational expansion but also integrates AirExplore into ASG’s extensive network, providing access to best practices and new market opportunities.
