Delta Air Lines Marks Centenary with Distinctive Aircraft Livery and Cabin Innovations
In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Delta Air Lines has unveiled a unique livery on its new Airbus A321neo, N589DT, showcasing the airline’s rich heritage and forward-looking vision. This aircraft, soon to be delivered, was recently spotted at the Airbus assembly plant in Hamburg, Germany, sporting an eye-catching design that merges tradition with modernity.
The new livery features a blend of midnight blue and metallic royal blue on the rear fuselage, highlighted with striking silver accents that extend to the tail. The aircraft’s vertical stabilizer prominently displays the iconic Delta ‘widget’ logo in silver, deviating from its traditional red, symbolizing a blend of innovation and tradition. The mid-fuselage also boasts similar colored bands that sweep towards the rear, adding to the aircraft’s dynamic appearance.
Further enhancing the design, the forward fuselage proudly displays the ‘100 Years’ title, intersected by a large silver Delta widget, which underscores the airline’s century-long journey. The engine cowlings match the tail’s midnight blue, maintaining a cohesive and elegant aesthetic. This aircraft, along with a new A350-900 also featuring the centenary livery, represents Delta’s commitment to celebrating its history while steering towards future advancements.
As part of the centennial celebrations, Delta is also undertaking a comprehensive cabin redesign across its fleet. Initially focusing on the 122 narrowbody 757s used for domestic and short-haul international flights, the modernization will extend to the widebody Airbus A350s later in the year. These enhancements are aimed at improving passenger comfort and integrating the latest in aviation technology.
The announcement of these milestones was made at CES 2025, held at the Las Vegas SPHERE, where Delta transformed the venue to reflect its global reach and the evolution of its services over the past century. The event featured a 360-degree immersive experience showcasing Delta’s various destinations, complemented by an interactive exhibit that celebrated the airline’s historical milestones.
With a current fleet of 1007 aircraft and an additional 202 on order, Delta Air Lines continues to grow and innovate, ensuring it remains at the forefront of the aviation industry. The introduction of the special centenary livery and cabin refreshes are just the latest in a series of initiatives by Delta to enhance its service offerings and commemorate its 100-year legacy of connecting the world.
