Introduction of Third Daily Service to Melbourne
Starting March 2025, Emirates will enhance its connectivity between Dubai and Melbourne by introducing a third daily non-stop service. This new addition will be facilitated by the airline’s newly retrofitted four-class Boeing 777-300ER, which highlights significant upgrades including a new premium economy cabin and the latest business class seats. The new flight is scheduled to depart Dubai at 21:15h local time, reaching Melbourne the following day at 17:40. The return flight will leave Melbourne at 23:55 and arrive in Dubai at 07:00 the next day.
Currently, Emirates operates two non-stop daily flights on this route using its Airbus A380s, and a third flight that includes a stopover in Singapore. However, with this expansion, the services stopping in Singapore will be discontinued, though the airline will introduce a fourth direct flight between Dubai and Singapore as compensation.
Increased Flight Options and Improved Service
Along with the new Melbourne route, Emirates has also re-introduced additional services to other Australian cities. As of December 1, 2024, a second daily flight to Perth has been reinstated, and a direct service to Adelaide was resumed on October 28, 2024. These expansions provide nearly 12,000 weekly seats to and from Perth and improve accessibility to South Australia, respectively.
The upgraded Boeing 777 aircraft not only supports increased passenger capacity but also enhances passenger experience with 8 first-class suites, 40 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 256 economy class seats. This rollout significantly increases the availability of premium economy seats, offering a total of 3,472 weekly premium economy seats across Melbourne and Sydney flights.
Ongoing Commitment to Australia
For nearly three decades, Emirates has been a key player in connecting Australia with the rest of the world. The airline not only employs hundreds of Australians but also deeply engages with the local community through substantial investments and sponsorships. Partnerships with entities like the Australian Open, Collingwood Football Club, and Sydney Symphony Orchestra underline its commitment to the country’s cultural and sports sectors.
Moreover, the longstanding collaboration between Emirates and Qantas, now in its tenth year, has successfully carried over 15 million passengers. This codeshare agreement facilitates access to over 120 destinations globally, enhancing connectivity and offering expansive travel options for passengers of both airlines.
