Introduction to Flexjet’s Expansion into Europe

Flexjet, a leading fractional jet ownership company, has officially announced its ambitious expansion into the European market with the planned opening of its first private jet terminal. Slated for operation in early 2026, the new facility will be located at Farnborough Airport (FAB) in the United Kingdom. This strategic move marks a significant milestone as it represents the first private terminal facility offered by any fractional ownership company outside of North America.

Construction and Features of the New Terminal

Construction on the new 2,098m2 ramp-side building began in September 2024, with Flexjet already making considerable progress. The terminal is designed to cater exclusively to Flexjet customers, providing a seamless and luxurious travel experience separate from Farnborough Airport’s main terminal. The facility will feature contemporary design elements courtesy of Carver Hain Art & Design and will include state-of-the-art amenities aimed at enhancing the customer experience.

The building’s design integrates environmental sustainability, featuring nearly 140 solar panels and a rainwater collection system for internal reuse. Additionally, the presence of four electric vehicle (EV) chargers underscores Flexjet’s commitment to promoting clean energy solutions.

Interior Design and Amenities

The interior of the new Flexjet terminal at Farnborough will house the company’s Tactical Control Centre and operations teams. It will also provide modern workspaces, pilot amenities, and an expanded Red Label Training Academy facility for cabin crew members, enhancing the operational efficiency and service quality.

Passengers will be greeted by a spacious entrance lounge and a concierge desk, with separate arrival and departure lounges dedicated to their use. The terminal will also feature a striking Owners’ bar with meeting spaces, an elegant dining area, and a central formal bar, all offering panoramic views of the airfield through a fully glazed rear elevation.

Art and design play a pivotal role in the aesthetic of the terminal, with exclusive pieces including a light sculpture by renowned Canadian-British installation artist David Spriggs. The commitment to luxury and comfort is further exemplified by the inclusion of a unique mock fuselage lounge and luxurious washrooms.

Flexjet’s Growth and Strategic Vision

Since its inception in Europe in 2019, following the acquisition of Flairjet, Flexjet has seen exponential growth. The opening of a new, larger Flexjet House in London’s affluent Mayfair district earlier this year further solidifies its presence and commitment to the European market. By the end of 2025, Flexjet plans to have private terminals at 10 US airports, including existing facilities at Teterboro in New Jersey and Van Nuys in California.

Kenn Ricci, Chairman of Flexjet, expressed enthusiasm about the new development, stating, “This is an exciting milestone moment for Flexjet as construction begins on this development, and a first for fractional ownership in Europe. We look forward to opening this truly exceptional space for our aircraft Owners and their guests.”
