Introduction of Allegris to New Routes
In an ambitious move to enhance its long-haul travel experience, Lufthansa introduced its Allegris onboard product in May 2024, aiming to redefine comfort and luxury in the skies. As the service approaches its first anniversary, Lufthansa is poised to expand this premium offering to additional key routes. Initially launched on flights from Munich to Bengaluru, the success of Allegris has prompted its extension to three new destinations from March 30, 2025, namely San Francisco, Shanghai, and Chicago, with subsequent additions of San Diego and New York-Newark. By August 2025, Charlotte will also feature Allegris service, totaling seven cities.
Heiko Reitz, Chief Customer Officer at Lufthansa, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion: “The inclusion of Allegris service on additional routes significantly enhances our customer service offering, especially on U.S. flights where passengers now have five destination choices from Munich with this superior cabin experience.”
Enhanced Cabin Features and Customer Satisfaction
Lufthansa’s commitment to customer satisfaction is evident in its Allegris-equipped fleets. Currently, nine Airbus A350-900s are outfitted with Allegris, six of which boast an exclusive new First Class. The company has reported customer satisfaction rates in Business Class of over 90%, underscoring the popularity of the upgraded interiors.
The new first-class Allegris suites, available selectively on flights to San Francisco, Chicago, San Diego, Shanghai, and Bengaluru, represent the pinnacle of luxury air travel. These suites are part of a sophisticated four-class configuration on the A350-900s, which also includes an innovative Business Class with several seat options such as the Suite, Extra Space Seat, Privacy Seat, and Extra Long Bed. Each option caters to different passenger needs and is available for an additional fee.
Distinctive Features of Allegris Premium Economy and Economy
The premium economy section on these aircraft features 24 reclining seats in a 2-3-2 arrangement, providing ample space and comfort. The economy class maintains a conventional layout with 201 seats in a 3-3-3 configuration, ensuring accessibility and convenience for a broader range of travelers.
Awards and Recognition
The innovative design and customer-focused enhancements of the Allegris Business Class have not gone unnoticed in the industry. Lufthansa’s new cabin concept was awarded the International Design Award for 2024 and the German Design Award for 2025. The awards commend the airline for its creative seating solutions and the integration of high-tech features like seat heating and cooling, which provide a customizable travel experience while enhancing passenger comfort.
