Renewed Airline Services to Seychelles
On September 20, 2024, Tourism Seychelles announced the resumption of services by German leisure carrier Condor, commencing flights from Frankfurt to Seychelles International Airport on Mahe Island. Utilizing an Airbus A330-900neo, the service reconnects the islands with Germany through a nine-hour journey. Following this, Edelweiss Air from Switzerland resumed flights on September 21, 2024, linking Zurich to Seychelles with an Airbus A340-300.
Further expanding the archipelago’s reach, Aeroflot from Russia is set to resume bi-weekly services starting October 2, 2024, from Moscow. Turkish Airlines will also enhance connectivity with four weekly flights from Istanbul beginning October 28, 2024. These developments are pivotal in re-establishing Seychelles as a connected and accessible destination for European tourists.
Strategic Developments in Air Connectivity
Earlier in 2024, Tourism Seychelles also announced the commencement of the first direct, non-stop charter flights between Seychelles and Chengdu, China, operated by Sichuan Airlines. Set to begin in the last quarter of 2024, this new route aims to tap into the expansive Chinese travel market, further diversifying the tourism base of the islands.
According to Bernadette Willemin, the Director General for Destination Marketing at Tourism Seychelles, the return of these airlines is anticipated to significantly enhance the inflow of tourists. The improved air connectivity not only makes Seychelles more accessible but also enriches the travel experience, enabling more global travelers to explore the unique offerings of the islands.

The national carrier, Air Seychelles, which now focuses on regional and inter-island services, operates a fleet comprising two Airbus A320neos and four De Havilland Canada DHC-6 turboprops. Although it has reduced its European routes, the carrier plays a crucial role in domestic connectivity.
