Singapore, 21 February 2024 – In a significant move to enhance its cargo and passenger operations, STARLUX Airlines of Taiwan has announced a substantial order with Airbus. This strategic acquisition comprises five cutting-edge A350F freighters and an additional three A330neo widebody aircraft. The agreement, underscoring STARLUX’s commitment to modernization and sustainability, was finalized at the Singapore Airshow, witnessed by STARLUX Chairman KW Chang and Airbus Commercial Aircraft CEO Christian Scherer.

Strategic Expansion and Sustainability Commitment

STARLUX Airlines has been proactive in developing the cargo market, leveraging Taiwan’s strategic location to enhance its operations. The introduction of the next-generation A350F widebody freighter marks a significant milestone for STARLUX, positioning it as the first Taiwanese airline to operate this advanced aircraft. STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai emphasized the A350F’s unparalleled efficiency, which aligns with the airline’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals, including achieving zero emissions by 2050. The addition of three A330neos further strengthens STARLUX’s passenger service capabilities, offering increased flexibility and efficiency.

Benefits of the Airbus A350F and A330neo

The A350F represents the pinnacle of freighter aircraft design, capable of carrying up to 111 tonnes and covering distances up to 4,700 nautical miles / 8,700 kilometres. Its operational efficiency is significantly higher than existing models, offering substantial cost savings. The aircraft’s advanced materials and design ensure a lighter take-off weight and reduced fuel consumption, contributing to a lower carbon footprint. The A350F is also poised to meet the stringent CO₂ emissions standards set by ICAO for 2027.

The A330neo, known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, will enable STARLUX to expand its premium service offerings. The aircraft features a two-class cabin with 28 business and 269 economy class seats, reflecting the airline’s commitment to exceptional in-flight experiences. This order increases STARLUX’s A330neo fleet, highlighting its dedication to operating one of the most modern and efficient fleets in the industry.
