Introduction of Wizz Air’s New Cabin Design

Wizz Air has recently integrated the first aircraft featuring its innovative cabin design into its fleet. This design will become a standard for all future deliveries of the Airbus A321neo and the new long-range A321XLR aircraft. The core of this new design is the Airbus Airspace Cabin, developed by Airbus to enhance the overall passenger experience during flight.

The new Airbus A321neo, which officially joined the fleet on February 12, 2025, incorporates an advanced lighting system with multiple settings tailored for various phases of a flight such as boarding, dining, relaxing, and sleeping. Wizz Air aims to create a soothing and enjoyable atmosphere that significantly enhances passenger comfort throughout their journey.

Enhancements in Aircraft Interior

The aircraft’s lavatories have undergone a complete redesign, featuring a sleek, modern aesthetic with state-of-the-art amenities. Another significant enhancement includes spacious overhead compartments, offering passengers increased room for their luggage and personal items. Wizz Air prides itself on being the first European low-cost airline to equip its aircraft with the Airspace Standard Overhead Stowage Compartments, a feature that underscores their commitment to passenger comfort.

For passengers with visual impairments, the cabin design incorporates braille signage throughout the aircraft, including braille row number indicators and lavatory signage. Michael Delehant, Senior Chief Commercial and Operations Officer at Wizz Air, expressed enthusiasm about the new cabin design, emphasizing its role in setting new standards for the passenger experience and reflecting Wizz Air’s ongoing commitment to all travelers.

Expansion of the A321neo Fleet and Introduction of A321XLR

Wizz Air has been expanding its A321neo fleet, with a significant order placed in August 2023 for an additional 75 aircraft, bringing the total order to over 400 units. In the next two months, Wizz Air is expected to receive its first A321XLR, following the pattern set by Iberia and Aer Lingus, which have already received their A321XLR aircraft. This follows the certification of the aircraft by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in October 2024.

In September 2024, Wizz Air’s CEO, József Váradi, announced the first route for the A321XLR, which will operate from London-Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia starting March 2025. The Airbus A321XLR, a long-distance variant of the A321neo introduced at the Paris Air Show in 2019, is hailed as a game-changer for single-aisle aircraft, capable of linking cities like New York and Rome, London and Vancouver, and Sydney and Kuala Lumpur with non-stop long-haul services.
